Kamla Beniwal is a Rajasthani Politician who served as the senior member of the Indian National Congress Party. She served as Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan several times. Moreover, she also served in various positions as a minister. From 2009 to 2014 she served at the post of Governor of different states of India. In 1954, when she was only 27 years old, she became the First women minister in Rajasthan. Earlier, in 2003 she worked as Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Later in 2009, she became the 11 the Governor of Tripura. Then in the same year, she got the post of 18 the Governor of Gujarat till 2014. Then in 2014, she served as 10 the Governor of Mizoram. She is the first woman who has served as Women Governor of any Northeastern state. In acknowledgment of her contribution to the freedom struggle, she was honored by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by Tamrapatra.
Personal life and Education
She was born on 12 January 1927 in Gorir village, Buhana, Jhunjhunu District, Rajasthan. She studied B. A from Maharani College, Jaipur, and completed an M.A degree from Banasthali Vidyapeeth.
She got married to Ramchandra Beniwal. Currently, she is 95 years old.

Political career
She joined the Indian National Congress party after completing her education. At the age of 27, in 1954, she won the legislative assembly election and became a Minister in Rajasthan. She served in various important portfolios in the Rajasthan government since 1954 including home, medical and health, education, and agriculture.
From 1980 to 1990, she served as a cabinet minister in the Rajasthan government for a decade. During this time she served in various portfolios including Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Irrigation, Labor and Employment, Education, Art and Cultural, Tourism, and Integrated Rural Development.
From 1993, she was no longer Minister but she still served as a member of the legislative assembly from Bairath. Then in 1998, she became the cabinet minister again. From 2003, she became the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
During the 1977 elections, she served as a joint secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee and was a member of the Rajasthan Congress Executive committee, President of the Rajasthan Mahila Congress, member of the Rajasthan Pradesh election committee, and was also the chairman of the Election campaign committee at that time. She served nearly 50 years in the Rajasthan government.
In October 2009, she was appointed as Governor of Tripura and became the first female governor of any state of North East India. Then on 27 November 2009, she became the Governor of Gujarat and served that position for more than four years. After that, she was transferred to the post of Governor of Mizoram.
Award
She was one of the most committed and senior corporators in India and has served in the National Cooperative Union of India in different ranks for about nearly 20 years. She was awarded the Best Corporator of India Award given by IFFCO in 1994-95.
