How to transfer the Patta Chitta ownership?
Individuals can transfer a Patta Chitta ownership in two cases –
- After selling land, it is mandatory to transfer the Patta Chitta.
- Secondly, if the existing owner of the land dies with a will to transfer the concerned property.

Unlike the other processes, concerned individuals have to carry out the steps offline to transfer their land ownership.
Step 1: One has to visit the Village Administration office or taluk.
Step 2: Applicants have to fill the application form and submit it to the concerned authority for the transfer.
This application form consists of name, father/husband’s name, residential address, property details and other details. A new Patta is generally issued within 20 days.

Step 1: Visit the official portal of Tamil Nadu Land Records.
Step 2: Secondly, login to your account.
Step 3: Click on ‘View Patta & FMB/Chitta/TSLR Extract’ from the dashboard.
Step 4: Enter the district name and area of the concerned property (rural/urban) and click ‘Submit’.
Step 5: Select the ‘Village’ and ‘Taluk’.
Step 6: Enter the ‘Sub Division Number’ and ‘Survey Number’ if the ‘Survey Number’ option is selected. But, if selected ‘Patta Number’, enter the number, then authenticate the value and click ‘Submit’.
Step 7: After submitting, individuals will receive their online Patta Chitta certificate comprising details of the property.

Step 1: Visit the official website of E-Services of the Tamil Nadu government.
Step 2: Click on ‘View Patta Chitta’ from the home page.
Step 3: Follow the redirection and enter a few details. These details will include taluka, village, district and others. Apart from this, select ‘Survey Number’ or ‘Patta Number’ and click ‘Submit’.
Step 4: After submitting, individuals will get details about their property.
Steps to verify TN Patta Chitta details
Step 1: Visit the E-Services portal of the Tamil Nadu government.
Step 2: Click on ‘Verify Patta/Chitta’ from the dashboard.
Step 3: Enter the “Reference Number” and click ‘Submit’.
