Hatyara (Murderer) is a 1977 Hindi action/crime film. The film, directed by Surendra Mohan and produced by Sunil Sharma, stars Pran, Moushumi Chatterjee, Vinod Khanna, Pradeep Kumar, Rakesh Roshan, and Nirupa Roy. Music for the movie is composed Kalyanji Anandji.
Plot
Daulat Singh and Bhairav Singh are Indian bandits who lead a harsh life. Daulat and Shanta have two children, Vijay and Geeta. On Diwali, he inadvertently murders a guy, leaving a boy and his mother nearly impoverished. He surrenders to the police, is arrested, tried in court, and condemned to life in jail after being moved by their situation. He sends any money he earns in prison to the widow and her son. He gets freed after many years due to his good behaviour and comes home to his now grown-up Forest Officer son and matured daughter. The town not only welcomes him back, but also honours him. He talks with the local Thakur and arranges for Vijay to marry his daughter, Gauri, who are in love. Inspector Prakash, Vijay’s buddy, has fallen in love with Geeta, and Daulat is eager to marry them both.
Geeta’s marriage is planned, but on the wedding day, Prakash’s mother identifies Daulat as the guy who murdered her husband and chooses to call off the wedding. An infuriated Thakur also annuls Gauri’s marriage to Vijay and decides to marry her to Bankelal. When Gauri protests to the marriage, Banke kidnaps Vijay and forces Gauri to marry him, but Vijay escapes, murders Banke, and joins forces with Bhairav Singh and other outlaws. He exacts vengeance on Pyarelal by murdering him, pitting himself against both his own father, who disowns him, and Prakash, who chooses to entrap him on Raksabandhan, although in vain. When Prakash’s mother learns that Daulat has been financially supporting her for many years, she changes her mind and decides to accept Geeta as her daughter-in-law. But, before the wedding can go place, she storms up to Daulat and informs him that the wedding has been cancelled yet again, this time because Vijay has kidnapped Prakash. Watch how this affects Daulat, Geeta, Shanta, and the rest of the community.
